Oedema (fluid retention) can occur in the arms. As a result, the lymphatic system functions poorly, which can cause swelling in the arm and hand. Medical compression arm sleeves apply increased pressure (compression) to the arm tissue, supporting the arm and helping prevent oedema from redeveloping. Read more about medical compression stockings in general on our medical compression stockings page.
Your doctor or medical specialist will prescribe medical compression sleeves if they are medically indicated. Accurate measurements are crucial to ensure these sleeves function effectively. Our specialist compression therapists take precise measurements of your arms, either at our branches or during a consultation at one of our many fitting locations.
A medical compression arm sleeve consists of an arm section and a separate glove, with or without fingers. You only need to wear a glove if the oedema also affects the hand. The arm sleeve should only be worn during the day.
All medical compression stockings we supply meet strict quality requirements.
These include the CE mark, RAL certification and inclusion in the 'Lijst van Bernink' (Dutch register of approved MCS). Olmed holds the SEMH quality mark. To establish the requirements, the SEMH works closely with NLNet (a patient organisation) and NVCZ (an industry and professional association).
Medical compression stockings in pressure classes 2 to 4 are covered by the basic insurance, provided you have the appropriate medical indication. Do consider any outstanding mandatory and voluntary excess you may have. Pressure class 1 is not covered by your basic insurance but may be reimbursed through certain supplementary insurances. Please contact your health insurer for more information.
